The ubiquity of the digital image online has led to increasingly creative uses of the transition from still to moving image.

In this two day intensive, experienced photographer and videographer Hugh Hamilton will assist participants to explore the artistic possibilities presented by the space occupied between the still image and video.

Participants will be introduced to artists and photographers walking the line between still and moving image, and will investigate the use of time-lapse, cinemagraphs and gifs to work towards producing a work for our student show, Photostart and publication on Instagram.

Sydney and Los Angeles based photographer Hugh Hamilton was one of the earliest adopters of digital capture in Australia and he also made an early transition in adding video capture to his skills base. Hugh undertakes both still and video assignments for clients including Google, University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA), Sydney Writers Festival, SMH, The New York Times, NPR and many others.

This course runs over a full weekend with a maximum class size of 8 participants.
