Presented by internationally acclaimed photographer Michelle Holden, Fashion & Beauty Photography introduces participants over four weeks to studio-based and on-location fashion and beauty photography with hands on experimentation of lighting and shooting techniques.
On the first day, participants will be provided an overview of photographic practice in the fashion and beauty genres, followed by a demonstration of common lighting techniques. Working as a team, participants will test and refine a lighting setups and complete a preliminary shoot in preparation for their final studio session.
On the second day, using professional models and hair and make-up artists students will take part in a full-day studio shoot including set-up, briefing, lighting, digital capture, and pack down.
On the third day, using professional models, hair and make-up students will complete an on-location shoot including set-up, briefing, lighting, digital capture, and pack down.
The course concludes with a review of images produced during the class shoots and a discussion about how to build a successful photographic practice in the industry. The final class runs from 10am - 1pm.
Every participant will have the opportunity to produce their own unique images during both shoots and to assist other students in their shoots.
This course runs at the same time over four weeks with a maximum class size of 8 participants.
Prerequisites and Requirements
- Introduction to Lighting, or relevant experience
- Introduction to Photoshop, or relevant experience
- Note book and pen
- Covered shoes are compulsory
Bring your own DSLR or Mirrorless (MILC) camera (charged batteries and memory card). If you are unsure please search your camera brand and model for clarification
