13.04.18 - 11.05.18 A Work In Progress: Two eyes, a nose and a mouth

Friday 13 & Thursday 19 April and Saturday 5 & Friday 11 May
From 1pm – 5pm

ACP Project Space Gallery
72 Oxford Street
Darlinghurst NSW 2010

Join Cherine Fahd at the ACP's Project Space Gallery and strike a pose for her latest work.

Two eyes, a nose and a mouth continues Fahd’s interest in photographic portraiture, the human face and appearance, and the ways in which we ‘make’ and ‘mask’ ourselves for the camera.

Over the duration of the exhibition artist Fahd will collect the ‘faces’ of willing participants. Participants are asked to pose in front of the backdrop, portraying themselves as a traditional bust (head and shoulders) and performing a series of facial poses.

These portraits will eventually inform the invention of ‘hybrid faces’, where eyes, noses and mouths are mixed and matched in a series of photographic animations.

Create your own portrait

The artist would like to invite you to create your own portraits to contribute to her latest work Two eyes a nose and a mouth.

To participate turn the flash on your phone on, stand in front of the backdrop and create the following poses:

  1. Pose for a passport photo; straight on and looking deadpan into the camera.
  2. Pose like you are looking up to the sun; eyes gazing upward.
  3. Pose like the bearded men in You Look Like a…; eyes looking out to the side, a sideward glance.
  4. Pose with your eyes closed and a slight downward gaze.

To share your portraits with Fahd simply upload your photos to Instagram using the hashtag #FahdWorkInProgress and @cherinefahd
