08.09.17 - 10.09.17 PHOTOFAIRS | SHANGHAI

8–10 September 2017
Shanghai Exhibition Center

ACP is delighted to be participating in PHOTOFAIRS | Shanghai

was created to serve the growing demand for the collection of contemporary photography in China and across the Asia Pacific. The fair’s success since launching in 2014 has been key in driving the Chinese art market forward and positioning photography as the collectable medium of our generation.

Staged explores the relationship between photography and other art forms such as installation art, sculpture, video and painting. This curated initiative spotlights artists of particular relevance within the contemporary photography arena in the form of chapters placed throughout the fair spac

Australian Centre of Photography will be presenting emerging Australian artist Sara Oscar who will create a site-specific installation for the fair. Responding to the iconic ‘Sunbaker’ image by revered Australian photographer Max Dupain, Oscar’s large-scale wallpaper pushes the boundaries of the photographic medium and incorporates historical archive images along with digital collage and painting.

Conversations offers visitors and galleries the opportunity to engage with an extensive public talks and events program, with each event intended to further explore and celebrate the local and international fine art photography market and celebrate artists from across the Asia Pacific region.  Each event is led by a high-profile panel of experts and encourages debate engaging with a live audience.

Cherie McNair, ACP CEO & Director, will be part of Conversations panel in support of the Spotlight exhibition, discussing the impact of Ren Hang on contemporary photography.

PHOTOFAIRS | Shanghai 2017 is specifically curated so that artists seen in the Collectors’ Exhibition can also be heard in the Conversations talks and events program, and bought from many of the fifty galleries participating at the fair.
