Description 

Designed for emerging photographers, this week-long intensive sets up participants to investigate their photographic practice and develop a portfolio of work. 

Over five days the ACP's experienced tutors will deliver our Business Basics for Photographers & Camera Craft 3 Intensive alongside our specialised studio-light course Portraiture Two Ways to provide participants with the knowledge and creative opportunities to build a diverse portfolio and explore our extended program of courses for 2019.

Wednesday 16 January 2019 from 10am - 4pm

Business Basics with Fiona Wolf-Symeonides

This one day workshop takes self-motivated entrepreneurs through the business aspects of a career as a professional photographer.

From strategies to promotions, participants will explore the realities of freelancing in an environment dominated by digital networks and website search engines. This workshop introduces participants to the standards, organisations and legalities of the industry, whilst offering practical instruction on how to start a business plan.

The workshop also covers basic book-keeping such as quoting, invoicing and budgeting, as well how to approach and maintain a good reputation with clients and peers.

 

Thursday & Friday 17-18 January 2019 from 10am - 4pm

Camera Craft 3 Intensive with Steven Cavanagh

Designed to introduce interested and passionate photographers to working within genre. Participants investigate new genres including still life, street photography and architectural photography to gain valuable insight and experience on the diversity of photographic practice.

You will be given instruction and helpful advice about refining your camera skills and how to approach your photography with a view to creating interesting and engaging stories. 

Images will be reviewed in class and participants will discuss photography in relation to various historical and contemporary images to help develop an understanding of style, genre and to develop a critical eye.

This course is for participants keen to develop their style and approach to their work, and looking to engage in long-term practice.

 

Saturday & Sunday 19-20 January 2019 from 10am - 4pm

Portraiture Two Ways with Bill Green

Over two days participants will be led through the process of utilising studio-flash and on-camera flash to create portraits in both a studio and outdoor environment.

Participants will be introduced to a variety of approaches and techniques to portraiture and working with studio-flash to plan and prepare for their photo-shoot.

This course is for those keen to develop their practical skills and portfolio, as well gain experience working with models.

 

Program Prerequisites and Requirements

  • Camera Craft 2, or relevant experience
  • Bring your own DSLR or Mirrorless (MILC) camera (charged batteries and memory card). If you are unsure please search your camera brand and model for clarification.
  • Camera manual (download from the internet if necessary)
  • Note book and pen
