Michael Wolf's work exposes contemporary living in 'mega cities', such as Tokyo and Hong Kong. His series Tokyo Compression offers moments of urban living that brings the viewer face to face with the dreaded peak-hour commute. However, Wolf's images presents this commute as sensual experience. The steaming windows, tight framing and discomforting arrangement of bodies transforms time spent travelling pressed against strangers, into private and intimate moments.
Selected work from Michael Wolf's series Tokyo Compression is being exhibited as part Olsen Irwin Gallery's group show Australian and International Contemporary Photography on display until 21 June.
