For the first time, the Australian Centre for Photography’s journal of photography has been invited to the world’s premiere photographic art fair, ‘Paris Photo’, with a presence in ‘Kiosk Magazine’ in the Grand Palais.
Here Photofile is rubbing shoulders with 143 galleries and 26 book publishers from 35 countries, including Sydney’s Stills and Melbourne’s Tolarno Galleries (showing Trent Parke and Bill Henson respectively), until November 16. Photofile’s on-the-ground correspondent is Dr Daniel Palmer, Senior Lecturer in the Art Theory Program in the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture at Melbourne’s Monash University.
We look forward to Daniel’s report in the next issue of Photofile in March 2015, and already we are excited to hear about the ‘Open Book’ project, showcasing photographic books since the 1960s, and the Museum of Modern Art’s display of their most recent acquisitions. As Louis Porter wrote in Vol. 94 of Photofile: ‘There is nowhere better to see photography laid bare in all its bewildering splendor than Paris Photo.’
