Congratulations to Margaret Lambert and Jack Moran, winners of this year's NSW Grandparents Day Photo Competition, who will receive tuition from our extremely knowledgeable photo-educators to the value of $1500.
This year’s competition delivered under the NSW Ageing Strategy, and supported by the Australian Centre for Photography, highlighted photography’s continued role in shaping people’s perceptions and provided a forum for people to explore and share the diversity of grandparents and older Australians in an interesting and creative way.
More than 140 images were entries were received for the 2017 NSW Grandparents Day Photo Competition, all celebrating the contributions of grandparents and older Australians to their families and communities.
The winners of both the open and schools category were awarded by a distinguished panel of judges which included acclaimed contemporary photo media artist, Pat Brassington and internationally renowned artist, photographer and filmmaker, George Gittoes, along with the ACP Director and CEO, Cherie McNair, and Ministerial Advisory Council on the Ageing representative, Professor Tracey McDonald.
Open Category - Winner
Margaret Lambert, Life's Lessons
Guest judge, Pat Brassington described the Margaret's winning image from the Open Category as, "An obvious connectivity between the present and the future pervades this image like the passing on of skills and an appreciation of a still, quiet moment."

Schools Category - Winner
Jack Moran, Clemothy Moran
High School student, Jack Moran focused on his paternal grandfather as the subject of his award-winning portrait, choosing to shoot on film to capture a very special relationship.
