The Australian Centre for Photography has developed an exciting new strategic plan that outlines the organisation’s future direction. Highlighting ACP’s proud history and its ongoing importance to the photographic community, the strategic plan and subsequent changes will broaden the centre’s reach and impact – taking photography out to new, diverse audiences and partnering strategically with like-minded organisations.
ACP will undergo changes at board level with a new board announced to take effect immediately. We acknowledge the legacy and commitment of its outgoing Board members, and thanks them for their contribution and support.
Outgoing Chair Colin Rockliff says, ‘ACP is at a pivotal point in its history. The sale of our building is a positive for the future of ACP. It allows us to now be free of any physical restrictions, and provides the opportunity to focus on the people to lead ACP rather than the building itself.’
ACP is pleased to announce the appointment of five new Directors, whose vision and diverse skills will invigorate and guide the organisation into the future. They are: Michael Blomfield (Chair), Kate Amati, Sue Boaden, Steven Cavanagh and David McCarthy.
Incoming Chair Michael Blomfield says, ‘Photography has never been more relevant than it is today. As a result of the dedication of all who have been involved over its history, ACP is now ready and able to pursue a future full of inspiring, challenging and innovative photographic art underpinned by our commitment to the education and development of photographers of all kinds. There has never been a more exciting future for ACP.’
For more than 40 years, ACP has provided a valuable service to the national photographic community, offering professional support, education and exposure through exhibitions by photographers of all kinds. With its new direction, ACP is confident that it will build on this legacy, offering even more responsive, inclusive and innovative programming to better serve the Australian photographic community as well as a variety of new audiences.
