4 February – 12 March 2011
Shows like ‘Gruen Transfer’ and ‘Mad Men’ have opened the world of advertising to a wider public appreciation. In our increasingly visual culture the commercial photographer’s synthesis of imagery, imagination and enterprise has become the dynamic messenger of the creative industries. Recognising this trend, Images from Adland celebrates the art and business of photographic creativity in the burgeoning field of contemporary commercial communications. This critical sampling of the creative industries visual zeitgeist draws on imagery from some of Australia’s most acclaimed agencies and photographers.
The exhibition has been developed specially for ACP by The Communications Council, the peak professional body for Australian advertising. Images from Adland is the curtain-raiser for ‘Circus,’ an intensive three-day event showcasing creative excellence, business innovation and imagination running at CarriageWorks and the State Theatre from 22 February.
